A gorgeous day so I headed off to ClimachX at 8am.

First ride around was good. On my own at a nice steady pace and felt good. Did it in 58mins 22 seconds. Pretty wet out there but with the sun shining who cares!

Then had a chat with Ian in the car park and decided to go around again so used the Virtual Training Partner feature on my Garmin Forerunner 305 to race myself whilst riding around with Ian. Ian helped out too. Being faster than me he helped keep me motivated and gave me someone to chase, and although he waiting at strategic junctions he set off again just as I got near him so I didn't have to stop.

By the top of the final descent I was ahead of myself, so when Ian punctured I carried on and left him (nice I know!) so that I could beat my time... Certainly a good training aid. Despite being the second time around this time I did it in 56 mins 16 secs. Beating my previous best time by over 40 seconds... Nice!
